I am Shirley's sister as well. I was the last born, and always referred to by Shirley as "The Baby". It did not matter how old I was. I have loved and adored Shirley for as far back as I can remember. I started spending my summers with Shirley in 1966 at the age of 10, and continued to do so for the next 7 years. She lived her life for her Lord and her GREATEST desire in life was to be with her Lord someday. Anyone that knew Shirley knows she is rejoicing in Heaven now. I just returned from Brunswick,Me where I attended Shirley's memorial. She was a member of The Berean Baptist Church for 54 years. Thank you to Pastor Mark for the beautiful service and to all of her church family that shared memories of Shirley. So many spoke of her piano playing as well and how she brought the keys to life. I saw the love they had for my sister and we all can rejoice as well, because we will see her again someday.

My memories of my sister Shirley were many. She was the second born and, I was the eighth, of a family of ten. Whenever I think of her, all I see is that wonderful and beautiful smile which she gave so generously. I remember the Sunday morning, while visiting Shirley, she played my favourite gospel, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms". Hearing her put her own touch to the piano keys always took me back to when we gathered around the piano at home and sang the old gospels. I know Shirley is with the Lord, which gives me comfort but, it will take me sometime to accept her death. If there is a piano in Heaven, I know Shirley is playing it. I will love you, my sister Shirley forever. Judy

I remeber working with Shirley at Awana, and she would always help me with my handbook that we had to do. If I got one thing wrong but everything right she would still sign me off. She brought me closer to god and made me wanna keep coming to church. She is one of my inspirations. She taught me to not be afraid to show my religion. She inspired me to wanna learn the piano too. When I finally graduated from Awana she came up to me hugged me and said "I hope to see you at detour." Which is the teen group. It really hurt me when I founded out she was in the hospital, I kept praying for her to get better, but I found out she passed away Sat. Night. I was very devastated. I will never forget Shirley, she will always be in my heart.

I have known Shirley for many years as a member of Berean Baptist Church. I am also a former Nova Scotian so we connected through our shared heritage! Shirley and I also sang in the church choir together! Shirley will be missed by many!
