February 1, 2022 | Bette Totman - Phippsburg, ME, Maine -- United States

Robert was always the same. He had a smile for you when he saw you. He was kind, loved his family and friends and was just a nice guy.

January 31, 2022 | Karin Austin - Greene, Maine -- US

I worked with Bob at CMP for many years and my nickname for him was "Grumpy" To be honest, I have no idea why because he was always so happy and we were always laughing...Every time I went to Florida I would buy him something with Grumpy on it! Truly a wonderful man. My condolences to his family.

January 25, 2022 | Kathy Doucette - Topsham, Maine -- USA

Bob was always so cheerful and friendly.

January 25, 2022 | Fred & Evie Libby - Phippsburg, Maine -- US

We are so sorry for your loss, are prayers are with the family.

January 25, 2022 | Mike and Chilloa Young - Phippsburg, ME -- US

Bob was such a generous, helpful and friendly person with a very dry sense of humor. He was quite a handyman and loved a challenge. He knew my Dad and used to regale me with stories about him when I was away in the service.

Being a Navy Veteran, Bob was also a steadfast member of The American Legion Post 216 in Phippsburg. As in all organizations, there are those that join and stay on the peripheral and those that dig in and help out - that was Bob. We could always count on him to not only be at our monthly meetings, but to attend and help out with our many events - from decorating Town Hall for Christmas, teaching children bike safety at the Bike Rodeo to placing flags on the graves of veterans. Bob received our Post "Legionnaire of the Year Award" in 2019 for his service to Veterans. He was a steadfast supporter of his fellow veterans and community and will be missed.

The family has asked that Bob be honored by donations to the American Legion. Such donations can be made to his Post: American Legion Post 216, PO Box 93, Phippsburg, ME 04562. Donated funds will be used to assist fellow Veterans in need.

January 23, 2022 | Don Smith - Auburn, Indiana -- USA

I served with Bob aboard the USS Boston during my tour of duty from 1966-1969. I found Bob to be one of the gentlest human beings I have ever met. I cannot begin to express my sorrow at his passing. I will always remember Bob and his wonderful "dragon fly " wife, Donna. As tragic as his passing is, I can only imagine how happy he is to see Donna again. I'm sure he and she can tend God's Garden for eternity. I will retain the memories that I shared with him at the "Boston" reunions. "Greater love has no man than he who would lay down his life for another". As a member of the U.S. Navy, Bob was such a man. I pray God grant his family peace in this time of sorrow.

January 23, 2022 | Melody and Tom Christensen - Bath, ME -- US

Bob was like another member of our Class of 70. He was there for every reunion. Donna and Bob had so much fun together. My favorite memory was going to the house after they returned from Hawaii where we were given Hawaiian leis and special drinks with pineapple and umbrellas. My condolences to the family. Both your parents were so proud of you and lived life to the fullest. Sending love. Melody and Tom Christensen
