Deepest sympathy to all members of the Longfellow family at this time of mourning. Although I did not know Mavis Longfellow personally, reading her wonderful book allowed me a glimpse into the life of this remarkable woman.

MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHY AND CONDOLENCE TO THE LONGFELLOW FAMILY ON MAVIS' PASSING ON NOVEMBER 20TH, 2020. MAVIS WAS SUCH A KIND SPECIAL LADY AND I WAS ALWAYS GRATEFUL TO HAVE HER AS MY FOREVER FRIEND EVER SINCE MEETING HER AT THE JACK REUNIONS AT CAPITAL ISLAND WHICH SHE ATTENDED WITH HER HUSBAND, LAWRENCE LONGFELLOW, WHO WAS MY PATERNAL COUSIN. I ALWAYS WAS IN AWE OF HER WRITING SKILLS AND SO HAPPY FOR HER THAT HER BOOK "A LONG JOURNEY" GOT PUBLISHED IN TIME FOR HER TO KNOW ABOUT IT. AND FOR HER FAMILY TO CHERISH ALWAYS. I SHALL MISS HER. GOD BLESS HER. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.

Sending condolences to the whole family and all friends.
Aunt Mavis will be missed and very much remembered - her knowing smile, her encouragement to all, her steadfast love of family.
I can see her now at Katahdin, watching the fire that Lawrence had lit and maybe put a bit too much wood on. After getting the kids set in their tents for sleep, she finally had the chance to rest and take some breaths in a chair by the fire. She asked the kids if we liked watching the sparks disappear into the dark. Yes we did.
I like to think she is at rest now after taking care of so many for so long. She was indeed a person who lived out her faith in the way she acted toward others: with kindness, dignity, and grace. All three abide in her family.
May God bless and keep you always.

No words can express the lovely features of Mavis Longfellow's entire being. Her book, "A Long Journey" does capture it well. We are so proud of Mom, we love her so so much, and will forever miss her dearly. Well done, dear Mother!
