Carol & boys, I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. I remember every summer coming up to visit my Gram (Bunny Bates) and always making a stop to the Ladds house to visit. John & my Dad (Bruce Bates) were good friends in school and we always looked forward to stopping by while we were up in Maine. There was always something going on, cookout, baseball or a trip to the lake. My thoughts and prayers and with you and your family.

Our sincere condolences to you Carol and the boys. We wish you peace and comfort in his passing.
John was my Rock! Working beside him at UPS he was there when times got tough and I needed a shoulder to cry on. You know how girls cry. I was young and he had the confidence an stellar foundation, solid as a rock attitude towards the evils of the empire. He had the greatest smile, a little mischievous smile and A great big heart! I loved him!
It's great to read the other names from a long time ago. Herm! Your the best kisser! Phil, you were the biggest jokester, Ron H, wow it's been way to long, You were a great first boss! Ronnie K, I miss our lunch dates!
Time does move along, I'm 3 years away from my 30 with big brown. Take good care my brothers! I love you all! Sister Karen

April 14, 2012 | Tim Matero - Rockland, ME -- United States

To Carol, Jim, Jon, and Dan.. Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Father. We may have lost touch over the years, but the memories remain of all the baseball, basketball, football, golf, kick the can, and whatever other activities we could find at your place to do. And this was all done with your Mom and Dad right there watching, helping, feeding us, and yes yelling a time or 2 at us.

He was a good man and I truly hope you know that he touched a lot of lives in such a positive way over the course of his years! And a man that I know I will never forget.

Sincerely,
Tim

Mr. Ladd was the father of my best grade school friend, a neighbor for many years, and will always live in my memory as "Coach Ladd." He served as coach for the Norway Farm Team youth baseball club, and was my coach for many summers. He was kind, patient, encouraging, and always had a smile on his face when instructing and guiding me and my teammates. My heart goes out to his family, and his memory lives on with me. Thank you for being such an important part of my childhood, Coach.

April 12, 2012 | Michael W. Flanders - Windham, Maine -- USA

My blessing to the whole Ladd family.
Mr. Ladd as I called him, was a great person and always made me feel good just being around him. I played a lot of sports with and against young Jon over the years. I knew whenever I saw a brown UPS truck hidden in the parking lot near a baseball field we were playing, that he was in it. He took me to play golf for my first try at it and everytime I shanked one in the woods I knew he was thinking to himself "Mike should probably stick to baseball" You made a great impression on me when I was a youg boy that I hope someday I can pass onto someone just as you did me.
