I met Rolande back in the '70s. We worked together at the Value House. I will never forget her hearty laugh. She always had determination and drive, no matter what life threw her way. We had recently reconnected through Linda and got to visit her and her birds. Oh my, didn't she absolutely love her "babies"! It was fun to watch her interact with them. She gave me a few feathers to bring home to my kitties....still have them. Think of her often. She was taken away from us all too soon.

Rolande created and nurtured connections with people she cared for. She was and is a shining star who will be remembered for her warm and loving heart.

One of my fondest memories of my friend, Rolande was our plan to visit the Grand Canyon in Arizona. We had planned to save our pennies & go sometime "next year." It was always next year. At first my friends, Sharon & Nina were going to go & we were going to drive out, & then Sharon died, & Nina was afraid to drive with just the 3 of us. So, it was just Rolande & I. We had made up our minds that we would fly & get there one day. Oh, we had seen this majestic beauty before, but we had to see it again. It never happened, because we did not have the pennies to put together. However, we often talked about how much we wanted to go one last time.

I didn't know your Mom, Kevin, but I know what a fine and loving son she raised and that speaks volumes about her as a woman and a Mother. I know she must have been very proud of you. k
