We were saddened to hear of the passing of Doris. As members of the Centerboard Yacht Club, we enjoyed seeing her often over the years operating our launch. In 2005 when Tom was Commodore, Karlene presented the Shirley Hayward Award to Doris for her many great years of service at the CYC. It wasn't until interviewing her before the event that we discovered what an accomplished woman she was since she didn't talk about herself very often. Our family, including our son, Tom, Jr., who was also a launch operator, has wonderful memories of being with her on the water.
