Hi. I just learned of Russell’s passing today while at Dead River getting my propane tanks filled by Stan.
He was also lamenting the fact he wasn’t able to attend the service.
I worked with Russ for a few years. I saw both his rough exterior and the mild kind and considerate side of him. He taught me a lot as I was an older but very young at driving fuel delivery trucks. He saved my bacon a few times because in each season there were the unsuspected hazards. Sometimes with a bit of roughness that implied you should know this but I’ll tell you anyway. I found him to be respectful as well.
One story was during the winter with plenty of snow and ice. He told me to chock the front wheels of the truck on a slopped driveway. It paid off because while I was fueling a tank the truck did slide down hill. The chocks did as expected. The front wheels rolled into the chocks and stopped it from continuing down the driveway. He then told me to rub sand on the back side of my rear tires which gave me the traction I needed to back off the front wheel chocks.
I am truly sorry for the loss your family has suffered. May he Rest In Peace and you all remember the goods times you had with him.
