September 25, 2023 | Eileen T Chabot - Elizabethton, TN -- US

I was a co-worker of Fred's from the Wood Fiber mill in Lisbon Falls where we became friends. After I left for the Army in 1990, I would visit him whenever I was back in Maine on leave. Those visits were often the highlight of my trips going "back home" (although they were not as often as I might have liked).

He was a beautiful soul and, for me, this world has dimmed with the knowledge that he is no longer in it!

Rest in peace, my dear friend!

October 27, 2017 | Wendy Butt - Knoxville, TN -- USA

In 2015 I found Fred through his cousin Hank. I had been researching the Butt family (my surname.) I sent him an email and he and I shared the same passion of genealogy. He had collected records, stories, and info the old fashioned way. By going to see people, visiting record departments, and cemeteries. I had started my search in 1994 by calling, writing, and online searches.
His grandparents George Adolph Butt and Gertrude Fances Hersom Flagg were my Great Grandparents.
We exchanged information through emails and the mail.
We both had been told that Gertrude Frances Hersom was Native American but my DNA and my perent’s did not show this, I asked if I could send him a DNA kit,he was anxious to find out the results this was in July 2016.
Finally the results came in and I sent several emails with no response. I finally reached out to Sandy a caretaker, and she informed me of his passing.
He had sent me an earlier email telling me of his dream for, he Hank and I to go on a genealogy search together in Maine. I was so looking forward to meeting him and sharing his dream. Fred I’m positive you have the answers now. I miss you, Cousin Wendy Butt

October 26, 2016 | Pop Frizzle - Bowdoinham, Maine -- Sagadahoc

Remembering Freddy from the years he rode with his dad on the Cushman Route many, many years ago and attended Lisbon High School with him as well.Remember when he first got his hearing aids and how excited he was to be able to hear so well. His father belonged to the Knights of Pythias many years ago and through contact through my husband he too became a Knight. He was always quite funny and liked to sit and talk to us about years gone by. He sent one of his broadcasts that he had mentioned my Mom and I in to my mom Ma Roberts. The day he had to retire from being in the parades because of his health was the day Freddy was missed by so many. RIP Freddy you and your old
friend Allan are now telling tales once again.
