December 22, 2021 | Dixie Tucker O'Connor - Burlington, VT -- USA

Sending sincere sympathy to Mrs. Geer's family and friends. She was my ABC shorthand teacher at SBHS and did a great job teaching us a more efficient way to take notes! She was always firm but fair (sorry I skipped that class the day you were late, Mrs. Geer)! Our class remembers you fondly.

December 17, 2021 | Patrick Burke - South Burlington, Vermont -- United States

I am writing as Principal of South Burlington High School and on behalf of current and former staff and students to express our sincere condolences.

Mrs. Geer's dedication impacted 1,000s of students. Her years of loyal service to the school and community of South Burlington are an important and lasting part of her legacy.

December 17, 2021 | Judi Hamel Hunziker - Swanton, Vermont -- USA

I was first introduced to Mrs. Geer as my typing teacher at SBHS (class of 67'). As an adult I came to know Janet on a more personal level while living in Fairfax Vermont for 15 years. We shared many common interests in community affairs and I always enjoyed our visits. She lived life to the fullest and had the most beautiful soul and I shall cherish the memories of our interactions. May she rest in peace.

December 16, 2021 | James Farr - FREMONT, California -- United States

With profound sadness I started to read Mrs. Geer's obituary. When finished I understand that it describes a life well lived and one that influenced so many others in a positive way. I send my condolences to all the family members and can only hope that the healing brings the Geer family together as I am sure Janet would want. Even in my limited interactions with Mrs. Geer, I always came away with something valuable to think upon. I feel fortunate to have ever met this truly capable teacher.

December 16, 2021 | Cindy Whitaker Gagnon - Shelburne, VT -- USA

My condolences to Janet's family & friends. I was a student teacher in the business department at SBHS in 1983-4. I can still remember her sense of humor and some of the funny comments that she would make. I enjoyed getting to know her better through your loving obituary. May you find comfort in your memories and feel her hugs when wrapped in the quilts that she made.

December 16, 2021 | Peter B. Wilder - Morrisville, VT -- United States

Janet Geer was someone I wish I had had more time with. Feisty, with a terrific sense of humor, and a willingness to verbally spar (in a hilarious manner) with her son, and my dear pal, David, with joyful abandon.

She will be missed. As will be her abilities as a provider of delectable items.

We look forward to the memorial service in 2022.

I have nothing but find memories of Mrs Geer from my days at south Burlington High School. She was a teacher who made meaningful connections with her students. She made a huge impact on those of us she touched. Rest In Peace Mrs Geer. Thinking of the family at this difficult time. I lost my mom in April and I know the huge hole it leaves.
