Ellen was a wonderful friend & I have nothing but good memories of all the fun times we had together.
I never knew how old she was & God Bless her that she made it to 97.

The comment on grammar hit the nail on the head. That was the way I got to know Ellen--arguing over grammar. (Need I say she won the argument?) She had strong principles, strong opinions, and was also something of a babe, in my opinion. She still wore high heels when the rest of us, the age of her children, had long gone the comfort route. I valued her opinions and always enjoyed seeing her. I trust she will set them straight up above just as she was not afraid to do here on earth. She was one of a kind and will be long remembered and missed by all who knew her.

I was "little ellen" to her "big ellen". she was a wonderful aunt, and always treated me so well. she was smart, funny, and opinionated. I loved chatting with her...she will be missed greatly

I got to know Ellen later in her life, as a friend of my mom's. I remember Ellen being one of the first grownups that treated me as a grownup in conversation, and I always looked forward to seeing her. Though I never ended up doing it, it was a goal of mine to visit Hawaii while she lived there.

An admirable woman, with a warm sense of humor. She will indeed be missed.
