June 29, 2012 | Edie Emerson - Togus VA, Maine -- USA

For the short time I knew Russell, he managed to leave a wonderful impression - his smile lit up his hospital room and I always felt better after having seen him. He was truly a remarkable man who will remain a memory of strength, courage, and sense of humor!

June 26, 2012 | Diane Durrell - Togus, Maine -- USAertentsd

I'm going to miss seeing Russell, what a great guy. I liked his sense of humor and he always had a nice smile, no matter how he felt. I am grateful to have been able to care for him.

June 26, 2012 | Anita (O'Connor) Chandler - Monmouth, ME -- USA

My deepset sympathy to the whole Bragdon family and Rusty's companion Joy. I know that Rusty will be sadly missed. I am still missing Buddy, and it's been a while. As kids, it was always fun to have all the cousins together and Rusty & Buddy kept into mischief most of the time. Love to all Aunts, Uncles and cousins, Anita

Even though you were a little over a year younger than me, I can't remember my life without you in it. Now there is this vast emptiness in my soul. You were always there for us through good and bad times. Always ready with a Russ-ism quip that would crack us up. So honest and accepting of whatever came along. You were so brave and I never heard you complain and you will always be my hero. I love you and know you are no longer in pain and I will see you in the sweet bye and bye.

I'm gonna miss you Big Brother. I can not even begin to think of all the things I had learned from you.Maybe not all good things.LOL. You Were one of a kind. It is kinda funny we only saw each other a few times each year but just knowing you were there if I needed you was like a security blanket. I now realize how much I depended on you for support and guidence.
I will forever miss you.

"Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail." by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
This is the way Russell lead his life, managed his cancer, and found cheer even when facing death. Russell was so very brave throughout his living and his dying. Thank you Russell for teaching us all how to die with grace and dignity. Russell, you were very loved and will be missed more than you could ever imagine.
