March 16, 2015 | JOHN AND NORMA GAYLEY - BOWDOIN, MAINE -- USA

We are so shocked and so very sorry to hear about "DR.B. We adopted our first dog "Charlie" from CHS.and we could not ever find a more kind, friendly, caring person than David, to always welcome Charlie whenever we volunteered to do work there.
When we had to let Charlie go, in Dr.B's loving hands, he felt our loss and comforted us.
We later adopted "Precious" and his loving care again was so appreciated.
We have had two more dogs since we last saw him and know he is in Doggie Heaven caring for them once more.
Our sincere sympathy to the family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing.
I worked with him for a few years, and he was one of the kindest and most caring people I've been fortunate to know.

February 7, 2015 | Peter Smith & Louise LeBoeuf - Yarmouth, ME -- United States

We were very sorry to hear about Dave. He was so generous to us when we were starting our practice. Many people and animals benefited because of his big heart, expertise and hard work. We will remember him fondly.

February 7, 2015 | Amanda Baker - So. Freeport, Maine -- United States

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I was shocked to see David's obituary since I had not known of his illness. I have happy memories of bringing our golden Willie to you when the hospital was still in your home. He was Jerry's and my first dog together and he received good care in your hands. Now Jerry, David and Willie are gone and I hope they are hanging out in good health and peace above with all their beloved animals and humans even though it is hard and sad to let them go.

February 7, 2015 | Rick & Linda Balzer - Freeport, Maine -- USA

David was the most kind, compassionate and
ethical man. We were so saddened by the news.

I just saw that Dave had passed away. I'm so sorry for all of you. Losing a husband or Dad - even when it is expected -is never easy.

He was a gentle and kind vet - and helped our family through all sorts of pet crises - from guinea pigs to dogs.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers but most particularly Caitlyn and Jamie whom I remember fondly from Let's Play!.

Take care, all of you.

- Nancy

Deepest sympathy to all those who loved Dr. Bourassa. I lived just up the road from his practice and he treated several of my pets. The standout for me was he and his wife caring for my son's cat. Dr. Bourassa took extra care with our precious Siamese cat, Teddy and Dale sat with him for hours and we thank her for that! A demonstration of the caring that both Dr. Bourassa and his wife had for the pets in their care was appreciated. RIP David Bourassa.

February 4, 2015 | Dr. Gail Mason - Brunswick, Maine -- USA

Dear Bourassa Family,

I am very saddened for your loss. Though I did not know Dr. B. on a personal basis, I had spoken to him many times as a referral veterinarian. He was always so polite, kind, and had his patient's best interest in mind. His life story speaks for him, and for his character and integrity. I am certain that he will be remembered and missed as a champion for animals and as an upstanding member of his community.

With sympathy,

Dr. Gail Mason

Dale and family...

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I always knew Dr. B was a wonderful vet, and it's no surprise to read about how extraordinary a person he was, right to the very end.

I can still remember how wonderful he was with my cats Tahoe and Jamaica. I always wanted to believe that Tahoe (my blue-eyed cream point Siamese) was one of his favorites, but I suspect that all the animals he cared for had that distinction!

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

February 3, 2015 | Trudy & Jim Briggs - Pownal, ME -- USA

Jim and I were so saddened to read about David's death. Not only did he take loving care of all of our pets, but we feel so connected to the Bourassa family through our children. Morse St., soccer, softball - there were years of connections between the Briggs' & Bourassas.

Our thoughts are with you all. The world has lost a truly great man, but his star will shine in the heavens.

February 3, 2015 | Dona Sickels - Durham, Maine -- United States

Dr. Bourassa was our first dogs vet. He was everything his obituary says he was and more. One August Saturday night, many years ago, my family and I were in Acadia nat'l park on a camping trip. We'd had steak for dinner and one of our friends couldn't eat steak cooked on the campground grill unless we covered it with tin foil. After the steaks were done the grill got put to the side next to a tree and unbeknownst to everyone our lab, Shadow licked ALL the tin foil off! When I discovered what he had done I panicked. It was 8 o'clock on a Saturday night. Despite this, Dr. Bourassa took my call and was so reassuring and kind. He calmed me down and told me what to do. I have never forgotten his kindness and his going above and beyond to help. Many years later when Shadow had to leave us due to cancer, Dr. Bourassa cried right along beside us. He was a beautiful person doing what he was absolutely meant to do in life. I'm so very sorry for the loss of such a kind and gentle man.

February 3, 2015 | Barbara Pelley - Brunswick, Maine -- USA

Dr. B was our vet in Freeport, I adopted our cat from him, Missy had been hit by a car and he brought her back to life. When I volunteered at the shelter, I would make coffee for him the mornings I worked. Dr. B was a nice, funny, caring person whom everyone loved. He'll be missed, I'm happy we got to know him.

I was shocked to hear about Dr. Bourassa. He was a. Very kind and caring man. He was our vet for many, many years and always showed such great compassion for our animals in need. He always made us feel like our pet was the most important one in the world. I missed him dearly when he sold his practice in Freeport. It was never quite the same. He gave so much to the humane society in Brunswick. Even tho I have not seen him in a long time the thought of him gone really saddens me. Dale I remember you also, such a quiet gentle lady. He was loved by many. Our deepest sympathy to the Bourassa family. You have lost a true treasure.

February 3, 2015 | Kathy Sullivan - Lisbon Falls, Maine -- United States
