We were so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. We always enjoyed his company when he and Celene stopped in Connecticut. He was always so kind to my mother. Even though we didn't see him very often, he made us feel like we were family. God bless you Celene. We are thinking of you.

Kathy, Debbie and Mark (and families),
Please accept my condolences. I have many fond memories of your dad (and mom) while visiting the Dairy Hut and Little Hobo, as a little girl. I remember he always took the time to come out and say hello when I stopped in to visit my mom. May he rest in peace and may you find comfort in knowing that others have you in their thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Christie

June 6, 2018 | Roger and Catherine Shriver - Lecanto, Florida -- Citrus
We will miss Richard and his humor, jokes and many kindnesses.
He is at last in piece but will be missed and always remembered.
His love of my sister, Celene, and constant caring for her made it easy for me to be so far away.
Much love to all his family.
Catherine and Roger

June 5, 2018 | Ruthie Sigal - Princeton , New Jersey -- USA
Warm grateful memories of Mr. B and the welcoming home away from home he and Mrs. B made for my son and for the many others he watched over as a dorm parent. Non judgmental, nurturing and wise, with a little reality TV thrown in! So interesting to read of his many successful careers - what a life of purpose and accomplishments through the decades.
Our condolences to dear Celene and to his family.

Mr. B, you told me to call you by Dick as soon as I graduated, but it was always hard for me to think of you by anything other than the affectionate Mr. B, who along with Mrs. B (Celene) helped nurture and support me during a very difficult time in my life. Yet at the same time, helped me grow and find so much happiness not just at Kents Hill, but in life. You mean so much to me, and I will miss you always.

There are times in your life when you realize how blessed you have been.
Dad always had a smile and encouraged us .
He had the biggest heart and a wonderful sense of humor.
He loved his family and treated everyone with kindness.
I know people would come into The Little Hobo Restaurant just to see him. Recently someone shared with me how they appreciated how my dad was always there to help others. It was great to see others remembering him the way I do.
I miss you already but I know that I will see you again one day. I am glad you are at peace . Thank you for leading by example. I will always carry you with me. Love you Dad Kathy

My wife and I have many fond memories of Dick and Mariette in our early years and would like to share just one...
We, and they, both lived (1963-64)on the top floor of an apartment house in Brewer during our senior year at Husson. We would keep our doors open between the apartments and had more fun than should have been allowed. My wife still has the whoopie pie recipe Dick gave her
during that time, and she says he made the best ones we've ever had.
We vividly remember the time that we surprised them while Dick was sitting on the couch in his BVD's with Mariette and we "popped"in on them. He was so embarrassed that he threw the pillows at us which only made matters worse...we had many laughs... We will miss him and offer Celene and his family our sincerest condolences.

Dear Kathy, Debbie and Mark,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your dad! He was such a major part of our life on Mountview Terrace and the memories of him are alive and well! From the countless trips to Dairy Hut and Little Hobo, to him snowblowing our drive way every storm, to him convincing Jennifer that you would eat rock soup, and worms for supper! Also remember him running out of the house after Mark shot a bottle rocket into the house (dont think he was too happy if I recall correctly)!
He always brought laughter to the neighborhood and I will always remember him that way!
You will all by in my thoughts and prayers.
Chris Dube

Whether it was doing his football picks, telling others about his adventures or just sharing a laugh- Dick was always up for some fun! He was friendly and outgoing. He and Celene always made time to keep in touch and enjoyed the many fun times. Dick will be missed by many.

DAD,
Although it is hard to see you go, I am glad that you are at peace now. It has been a rough few years for you , but now it is time for you to rest.
During your life you have touched so many people, you will always be known for your smile and your charismatic attitude towards others. As a father we could have not asked for anything better. You and Mom did a awesome job raising Kathy, Deb and I. We mourn your passing but at the same time we are glad that you have given us the ability to succeed in life and to stand on our own two feet with confidence and a great moral compass. You and mom have done your job, we have it from here, rest and be happy my friend -- I will never forget, you were my rock. Oh ya, tell MOM I said Hi and I love her. Your Buddy!
