Very sorry to hear of Marlene's death. She was always so kind, so thoughtful, so down-to-earth. And committed to justice. She was an exceptionally fine person. The world will miss her.

I only learned today of Marl's passing. My heart goes out to her family and friends. She was instrumental in my own sobriety and she and her family will always hold a special place in my heart.

Marlene was my supervisor at ARC for many years. I saw the expression on her face in the photo many times -- a 'wait a minute, let's think about what you just said,' kind of look. She loved her work and she helped so many people -- myself as well. I loved her dearly and won't forget the times we spent together.

June 6, 2019 | Marla Davis - Woolwich, Maine -- US

Marlene was such a marvelous caring person! I first got to know her when we both worked at Bath Memorial years ago. And more recently I enjoyed seeing her and Barbara around town. It was always wonderful to see her. She will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to Barbara and the entire family.

Charlene, so sorry about the loss of your mother, she sounded like a wonderful person.

June 3, 2019 | Kellie Burgess (Mull) - Brunswick, Maine -- USA

My thoughts and prayers are with Marlene’s family. My mom was her colleague at ARC and Marlene took her under her wing as her mentee and this meant the world to my mom as a new counselor. My mom had many physical struggles and Marlene gave her the confidence to pursue her career when others would have told her to give up. I’ll always be grateful for Marlene for supporting my mom and in-turn myself all those years ago. Best, Kellie

June 3, 2019 | Carol Goulette - BATH, Maine -- United States

So so sorry to hear of Marlene's passing. She was an amazing woman who was loved by so many. She was always there for me when we worked together at ARC and even after. My heartfelt sympathies to her family and loved ones. Heaven has a very special Angel.

June 2, 2019 | Roxanne Leino - Durham, ME -- US

Marlene interviewed me for my job at The Addiction Resource Center! Her low-key and practical view of life and her firmness and honesty made her such a wonderful counselor. She saved many lives during her career. Such a deep loss to all who were fortunate to know her. Special thoughts to her family. Godspeed, Marlene.

Marlene, I was sad to hear of your passing. Just thinking of you brings back so many memories of my interactions with you at ARC. It's hard not to smile when I remember some of the 'lessons' you taught me and I still think of them to this day, especially when I know someone is lying to me! Rest in the arms of Angels now, you deserve it. You done good....Love, Pauline

To Marlene's family and friends - this is a difficult time and I hope you find comfort in knowing how much Marlene was loved and cherished by so many. I hope you are able to find strength in your memories of her and enjoy some laughter at the same time.

May 30, 2019 | Fran Barter - Fort Fairfield, Maine -- USA

My earliest memories of Marlene are of her making the best cookies at Christmas and of sharing Ledgemere Beach with her. Her easy and infectious laughter could perk up anybody's day. She showed love and affection liberally and made my family richer by being part of it. She was a gift to the planet and to all those she touched. I will miss her.
