Very sad to find out Charlie has passed. We sailed together on the Delaware II out of Woods Hole and he was a great shipmate. I saw him a few years after we left NOAA in Panama on a tanker. We were docked at Rodman Marine Base and that was the last time I saw him, back in the eighties. I think about him and our time at Woods Hole often.

Met Charlie, with my dad back in 1999. What a treasure! He knew my grandfather well and told us stories about him. Those memories I will cherish forever! You're a good man Charlie. You will be missed and never forgotten. To Eileen, we wish you peace and all the good memories that will come to you and the smile that will grace your face when you think of Charlie.

Thank you, Charlie, for your stories, smiles, strength, courage and love for the Boardman family. You entertained me more than once with your wit and natural storytelling ability...man, you are a good yarner! Nancy and I now proudly own one of your sweaters and a pair of your boots. It’s wonderful having something of yours to remember you with but, truth be told, we’d all just rather have you, instead. You’re a good man, Charlie, thank you for letting me be a small part of it.

So very sorry for your loss, knew him high school was always a pleasure to talk with.
I know he was very proud of being a merchant marine. He was also very proud of his kids and grandkids.
May he rest in peace in the arms of the angels and watch over his flock here on earth.

Charlie was frequently assigned to my watch on ALBATROSS IV out of Woods Hole, MA. We were friends, and before I left the ship, Charlie told me he wanted to be a Freemason. I wished him well, gave him a contact for the lodge, and gave him my father's masonic ring - all before leaving the ship for a new assignment. (1984 - 1986)

My condolences to his family. Charlie and my siblings grew up together on Gurnet/Garrison Street in Brunswick. We lived directly across the street from each other. Many fond memories of our childhood and all the neighborhood kids. We had some awesome baseball games in the field behind my house.
Rest in peace Charlie.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Charlie as a kid. He grew up on Garrison st ( Old Gurnet rd) just a couple houses away from me. We use to play together as kids until he and his Mom, Pearl moved to Spring st. I ended up buying their old house from Pearl and Forest when I got older and still live at that address. Pearl had me teach Charlie how to build model cars.It sounds like he had a wonderful full life but it's so sad he died so young. My heart and prayers go out to his whole family. Sincerly, Rick Moody

It is with great sadness that we have learned of Charlie's passing. Although we have not seen him for several years we were able to keep up with his news through his friend Andrew. We enjoyed seeing Charlie when he worked on the North Haven ferry several years ago. I also remember seeing him on the island when he visited my grandmother, Flossie Brown, with his mother. We will miss you cousin Charlie. May you be at peace and free from your illness with God in heaven. Thinking of your family with love, Doreen and Sam Cabot of North Haven island
